How I Do Keyword Research (A Beginner-Friendly, Practical Guide)

Keyword research is the heart of SEO — and trust me, once you learn it, blogging becomes 10x easier.

This is the same keyword research method I use for my clients and my own blog.

Step 1: Start With Seed Keywords These are broad topics your blog is about:

    • Blogging Tips
    • Google Ads
    • SEO
    • Meta Ads
    • Digital Marketing
    • AI Tools

Step 2: Use Free Tools to Expand Your Keyword List

I use a combination of these tools:

🔹 Google Keyword Planner

For real data.

🔹 Ubersuggest

For easy-to-read competition levels.

🔹 AnswerThePublic

To find “what people actually search.”

Example: Seed keyword: Google Ads

Step 3: Check Search Intent (SUPER IMPORTANT)

User searches:

    • “Google Ads course price” → wants to buy
    • “Google Ads mistakes to avoid” → wants guidance
    • “Google Ads tutorial step-by-step” → wants long guide

Write according to their intention.

Step 4: Competition Check (My Shortcut)

Go to Google → search your keyword → see the result types.

If page 1 has: ✔ Quora ✔ Reddit ✔ Medium ✔ Low-authority sites

Then it’s an easy keyword you can rank for.

Step 5: Write Your Article Using SEO Placement

Place the keyword in:

    • Title
    • URL
    • First 100 words
    • 2–3 subheadings
    • Conclusion

That’s all you need to rank early on.
